Youth Basketball

Grove City's youth basketball leagues serve participants in kindergarten through grade 12. Players learn basic technical skills and sportsmanship in a fun, upbeat environment. Boys and girls compete separately.

Registration must be completed in person; form must be signed by parent or legal guardian. Be prepared to provide a shirt size, full payment fee, emergency contact information and proof of residency (to show eligility for the lower fee).

Fees, which include a team jersey, are $83 per player for residents and $88 for non-residents. Teams are assigned randomly through a blind draft. After the registration period ends, any available spots may be filled with late registrants, but a $20 late fee applies.

Practices begin the week of Dec. 8. No practices are held while South-Western City Schools are closed for winter break from Monday, Dec. 22 through Friday, Jan. 2. Participants should be aware that, due to limited space availability, practice times may extend to as late as a 9:30 p.m. completion time.

The regular season starts Saturday, Jan. 10. Season-ending tournaments are held in early March for players in grades 3 through 12.

Game dates, times, locations and registration periods are subject to change due to inclement weather or other issues. In case of severe weather, call the Weather Update/Information Line at 614-277-3060 to check the status of games and practices. Notices also are posted to the Grove City website, Facebook and Twitter. Practices are canceled when the South-Western City School District cancels classes. Practices are not rescheduled. On Saturdays, the decision to conduct the games is made by 7 a.m.

Volunteer youth coaches are needed. Those interested should complete a coach's application form available in the Parks and Recreation Department office. Background checks are performed on all applicants.
