Gardens at Gantz Farm Growing Volunteer Group

Do you have a green thumb and want to share your gardening prowess or do you just enjoy nature and interacting with others? Cultivate your interest in plants and helping people by becoming a volunteer for the Gardens at Gantz Farm.

The Gardens at Gantz Farm is located in Gantz Park, 2255 Home Road. The gardens are adjacent to the historic Gantz Farmhouse and provide a unique look at horticulture through time highlighting modern and historic gardening styles, as well as a rain garden and a meditative labyrinth.

The Gardens at Gantz Farm Volunteers currently are accepting applications for its 2012 volunteer-orientation program, a two-part course from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sept. 29 and Saturday, Oct. 6, at the Gantz Farmhouse; volunteers must attend both weeks. The classes give an overview of the gardens and their development, the history of the Gantz family and the farmhouse, and information on the plants in the herb garden, labyrinth and rain garden. All gardening-experience, interest and skill levels are welcome to volunteer.

The wide range of projects and activities supporting the gardens includes assisting with events such as an educational symposium, the annual herb and perennial sale and farmers markets; as well as leading tours, teaching or assisting with workshops and working in the gardens.

For additional information or to be sent a registration form please call 614-871-6323, or email Gloria Hartung or visit the Gardens at Gantz page.
